travel to Bourgas Bulgaria

First: let me introduce myself. My husband and I brought home our darling daughter Emily from Dobrich (NW of Varna--see below) on March 1st, 2004. I had been advised against web forums until Emily was home, and now that she is, I'm getting involved... Burgas is located along the Black Sea coast, just south of Varna, the largest city in eastern Bulgaria. From Sofia to Dobrich, it's a good 6-7 hour drive, so I'm assuming the drive to Burgas is about the same distance. Did you travel once already, to meet your son? If you haven't, the road from Sofia eastward is nice, like a good I-80 or I-5 here in the US. After a bit, though, it changes to more of a country highway. Travel at night is sketchy--Bulgarian drivers like to drive fast and are risk takers. I just finally gave up and realized I had no control whatsoever, trusting our driver would get us to Emily and back to Sofia without killing us. He did.
