I'd recognize non-ID info anywhere! So not-helpful, when you boil it down.
A few suggestions:
1. contact the agency that handled the adoption and see if they offer any searching services.
2. Petition the court where you were adopted (county where your adoptive parents lived when you were born, most likely). Call DSS at (800) 543-7508 and ask for the process.
3. Post online if you haven't already. Register here:

Good luck.

If petition sounds intimidating, here is my petition process from June 2004:
1. write letter explaining why my medical need for the info outweighed the privacy surrounding the adoption 33 years later.
2. Have letter notarized.
3. Mail letter and copy of my driver's license.
4. Wait 4-6 weeks.
5. Open package with all my info.
Maybe I was the exception, but I highly recommend taking a shot at the petition.
