OK Louisiana FAMILIES:
Let's get it started. After a grueling search, I have been unable to locate any functioning support groups for adoptive families in the New Orleans area.
If you are interested in joining, please email me. I have started a list of families that are interested and I will add to the list as needed.
After I get a membership list, I can email it to everyone and we will start from there. My hope is that we can built a support network for adoptive families and an avenue for our children to meet other adoptive kids in the area.
Let me know if you are interested.

Here is an update on our "little group".
A bunch of us (many from this website - some not) searched for a LA Adoption Support Group. There are many groups for international adoption, ranging in all areas of the US. But, none for domestic adoption. After our futile, unsuccessful search . . . .
. . . we decided to start our own "adoption/friendship" group. I have decided against calling it a "support group" because we do not intend on giving professional advice on adoption, nor do we have a governing body in the professional realm. Instead, we are just an Adoption Circle of other families touched by adoption.
Our little group consists of about 11 families (so far) and some unconfirmed families. We have 1 family from Houma, 2 from BR, 3 from NO, 1 from Slidell, 2 from Hammond, 1 from Covington and I forgot the others. We are all located within the Southeast LA Region. Some of us are single mothers, some have adopted biracial children, some international adoptions, and some are the typical Red-white-and-blue, apple pieӔ family. We have a great mixture of families from different beliefs, backgrounds, and educations to learn from. We accept anyone who is interested!
I am constantly on the lookout for other adoptive parents. I found two here in New Orleans at the ZOO. One is still unconfirmed so spread the news.
Our goal is to meet each other, share our adoption stories, discuss issues regarding adoption, and have our children meet other children that are adopted. I know that for me and one other member, our families don֒t understand the impact that adoption has on us. Here we can freely talk about these issues, without feeling judged.
If you think that this is something you may be interested in ---- We would love to have you join us! We have already planned our first meeting/playgroup. Email me your private address and I will send you the attachment with the member names.
I look forward to meeting you.

We are currently going through the process and once we find our forever children we would be happy to join the local club. We live in Laplace which is mostly central to some of the addresses you have given.

Hi! I was at the Sellers Baptist home for unwed mothers
in New Orleans, back in 1976. Since then it has closed
and my records are in Monroe, La at Baptist Childrens
home. They have claimed my daughter has made contact in about 2002 or 2003. Since then I have been
sending bday, and christmas cards with nonid info. But
I have never had a reply or anything from my daughter.
I still don't know a whole lot about her.
Is that what this group about?
