My name is Louisa and I am 19 years old. I was adopted at a very early age, maybe a couple days old even. I am searching for any biological family. I constantly wonder if mom remembers me and that I might be searching of her. Does she still care?
~~My Mother: My mother was 18 at the time of my birth and in her senior year of high school. She was born in March of 1967 and she was adopted as an infant from Canada through the same agency. She is of French, Irish, and Scottish decent. She was described as an attractive young adult with sandy blond hair in the summer months and a blondish brown hair in the winter months. She has small features with beautiful green eyes that often change to a hazel blue color. She is approximately 5 feet tall and of medium build. She had a fair complexion that tans nicely in the summer months. She was described as a friendly, outgoing person who enjoyed sports, especially swimming and soccer. She loved to garden and loved pets. She was a very warm, sensitive young woman who was conscientious about her work and responsibilities. She had a tendency to be a private person. She was seen as intelligent, she went on to complete her high school education and went to college that same year. She was uncertain of her career choice; she had an interest, however, in teaching swimming and in first aid. She was born a full term baby and always enjoyed good health. Her blood type was B negative and she carried the RH negative trait. She sometimes wore glasses. My grandmother (biological) was born in Canada and was 54Ғ. My biological grandfather was born in Scotland and was 5Ғ6Ғ tall. My grandparents were 19 and 21 at the time of my mothers birth. My motherҒs adoptive parents were in their early 50s at the time of my birth. My mother had one brother who was 21 at the time and was also an adopted child. My motherҒs adoptive father was a policeman and he adoptive mother was a secretary.
~~My Father: My father was also 18 at the time of my birth. He was completing his senior year of high school. He is of Irish and Scottish decent. He was described as being a handsome young man with dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a freckled complexion. He was 56Ғ tall. He had a fair complexion that also tanned in the summer months. He has fine features and a slender build. He was described to be a friendly, outgoing young man who is very much involved in sports. He enjoyed soccer, skiing, swimming, golf, and tennis. He had a normal birth history and enjoyed good physical health. He has AB positive blood and RH positive trait. He was the second oldest of three children. He had an older brother in college and a younger sister who was also in high school at the time of my birth. My paternal grandparents were in their late forties at the time of my birth. My paternal grandfather was a school principal and my paternal grandmother was attending college for her law degree.
~~Circumstance at time of placement: I was born on May 16, 1985 at 3:38 AM in Syosset Hospital, Long Island, N.Y. My birth weight was 7lbs and I was 19Ғ long. The birth was described as a normal, spontaneous delivery with no complications. My mother hid her pregnancy from her parents throughout the full nine months and first learned of it the day she went into labor. My mother was an exercise instructor, while instructing a group of students at a nearby pool her water broke. My mother requested for adoption because she felt she could not adequately care for me. Due to both my parents still being in high school, both grandparents were in favor of adoption. My mother wanted to keep me however financially; the lack of her parents, my father, and his parentҒs willingness to help influenced the decision. The adoption process was a difficult one for my mother, she was emotionally upset and throughout the months of June, July, and August she went for counseling.
**My mother was able to write me a letter and the original letter was given to my adoptive parents. However, I have not received this letter and did not have knowledge of this letter until just days ago!
**I have also found out that I have a sister. My birth mother contacted the agency in 1988 and inquired about me and reported that she has come to terms; she was married at that time and has a daughter!!!!
This is the beginning of my search and I dont know what else to do. If you have any advise please e-mail me or post in this thread. I am searching to fill a whole that I feel I have in my life. Is this normal?? I am not looking to replace my adoptive mother, I love her very much and she is and always will be my mother. I feel I just have to know her.
Hopeful but confused,
Louisa
