Matt & Kala’s Story
Through thick and thin, we stand by each other's side.
20 years together!
During our freshman year of high school, Matt, the quiet football player, and I, the social volleyball/basketball player, crossed paths in our core classes. Despite being aware of each other through mutual friends, we rarely spoke outside of our shared classes. It wasn't until our senior year when our best friends started dating that Matt and I were encouraged to spend time together. As we grew closer, we began dating towards the end of senior year in 2004. Although we faced challenges during our relationship, we believe they only strengthened our bond. After dating for a little over a year, Matt proposed, but I declined, feeling we were too young and uncertain about our future paths. Despite this, we stayed together and continued to mature alongside each other. Nearly 12 years into our relationship, Matt proposed again, and this time I accepted, as we had built a strong foundation. In 2017, we tied the knot, and now, approaching our 20th year together, we cannot envision our lives without one another. Through thick and thin, we stand by each other's side.

Meet Remi, the spirited, affectionate little firecracker! Even though she is nearing 9 years young, she's a bundle of energy, outplaying every friend in sight. While she loves snuggling up, her heart truly belongs to the sunny skies. Meet Trigger, a 150-pound gentle giant who firmly believes he is a lap dog! At 7 years old, this affectionate boy adores relaxation and soaking up the finer things in life.
Our Home
Nestled on 10 wooded acres, our charming 3- bedroom, 2-bathroom home is currently a perfect fit for us. Gradually, we are personalizing it, as it was neglected before we arrived. We take great pride in turning this house and its surroundings into our own personal sanctuary. This involves painting, creating a garden, thinning out trees, and planting new ones. Our long-term goal is to construct our dream home on our spacious property. Initially, we assisted our friends in moving into their new home. We would spend time at their place, and they always expressed their love for the area. When a neighbor informed our friends about their decision to sell their property, our friends immediately thought of us. Knowing this location would be ideal for us to start our family. We enjoy hitting the great outdoors with our family and friends, disconnecting from technology to fully immerse ourselves in nature. From exploring to fishing to sharing tales by the fire, our goal is to create epic memories and strengthen our bonds. Both of our families have adoption stories; Matt has an uncle, and I have cousins who were adopted. However, what ultimately led us to consider adoption was my infertility caused by severe endometriosis. Following numerous surgeries for endometriosis, we sought help from a specialist to start a family. Unfortunately, I required another surgery, a hysterectomy. After recovering from this procedure, Matt and I were certain about pursuing adoption. We openly shared our decision with friends and family, who are supportive and excited, of course not as thrilled as we are.
Take a drive
As you depart from the busy downtown scene and head north for 20 minutes, you enter a peaceful countryside setting with stunning mountain views. Just a short drive off the main highway leads you to our serene living. Traveling down our private road, you'll encounter our friendly neighbors – don't forget to wave – who keep horses, donkeys, alpacas, goats, ducks, chickens, and of course, cats and dogs. Be on the lookout for rabbits, turkeys, deer, and moose, as they tend to roam freely. Nestled among the trees, our cozy home sits on 10 acres, our own piece of paradise. Whether we're playing with our dogs, cruising around on our motorsports, or simply strolling through the neighborhood, everyone is greeted with warmth and hospitality.
