I have been searching for my son who was born DECEMBER 19, 1976. Just a few days before my birthday, and obviously just a few days before Christmas. I gave birth to him in Moorhead, Minnesota...but after I placed him, I think he went to Minneapolis. Any ideas or links anyone??????

Find out what his adoptive parents named him. With a first name and birthdate I can search public records for you. Let me know if you need the help.

Thank you much for your response.
But I have NO idea how to find out the name of Aparents. I have never been given that info. I will wait to hear back from you.
Thank you so much for any help!!

What was the name you gave your son when he was born? I am from the Minneapolis area, so I just thought something may ring a bell.
I was adopted through Anoka County when I was 9. I went to the courthouse when I was 18, and they gave me copies of everything in my adoption file. I would think you could do the same, if you know the adoption agency. What is it, maybe I can get you some contact information. Wouldn't hurt to try.

I named my son Corey Richard Gabel. Unfortunately, I have already tried the adoption agency in Moorhead where the adoption took place. They want almost a $1,000.00 to search. And they will not give me any info. other than Non-Identifying. So they have been of no help whatsoever. I am glad though that you were able to get your info. through the county without alot of hassle. Your case must have been "out of the ordinary"!!! I am happy to know that it does happen to decent people sometimes!! Anyway...any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Hello,
Have you requested a copy of the original birth certificate? {please see the information below}.
Also, there are search angels in MN that might be able to help you directly or help you with advice for search in MN. I found a search angel site that looked promising.
Also, if all this fails then you might want to consider a paid search. Yeah, it stinks, but it can also be effective. I had a friend recently search for years with no luck. She finally used a paid search firm ($2K) and they found her birthmom in a week. It was money well spent. Just dont ever pay until they find your child.
btw - I live in MN. It is too cold here!
Good Luck
David
Here is the info on MN records:
Obtaining an Original Birth Certificate:
An adopted adult can request a copy of the original birth certificate. At this time the Commissioner of Human Services will attempt to locate the birth parents to obtain consent to release the original birth certificate. If each birth parent is located and consents are given, the original birth certificate will be released. If there is no reply or contact with the birth parents, for adopted adults adopted before August 1, 1977, the adopted adult must petition the court for release of the original birth certificate. If the adoption was finalized on or after August 1, 1977, then the original birth certificate will be released to the adopted adult if the birth parents have not filed an access veto.
Check out this link, I am pretty sure that he probably wouldn't have the same last name, and this guy is in Tennessee, but it's a shot.
How old was your sone when he was adopted? Because I was adopted when I was 9, and my parents gave me the option of keeping my name the same, or changing it. This could be a posibility for him, if he was old enough to make that decision.
