Can anyone share how long their SWAN homestudy took?
Our classes are done and the referral paperwork signed and sent into SWAN -but the caseworker made an off hand remark that the homestudy 'could take a couple of months' Now I know a lot depends on us getting our paperwork together - but I have been doing that at a pretty fair pace (and see no reason that it shouldn't be done by Christmas)
Thanks for any input!
Diane
We were also told that the timeframe for our worker to complete our homestudy was at least two months from the date that she received ALL of our paperwork and came out to the house for an interview.
Next week is week 8, I think, and when I spoke to her the other day she said it is done and on her supervisor's desk. We have also signed up to do foster/adopt in case we don't get a match from doing straight adoption, and the worker in charge of finalizing all that paperwork says she is just waiting on the completed homestudy from the adoption worker. So, we are at a standstill.
No one has said anything about the time from the homestudy being complete to placement, except that it could be one week or one year.
No one told me to get a crib or carseat---I wish someone would!
My husband says the elapsed time between conception of each of our bio kids and my starting to shop to outfit the nurseries was less than an hour, ha ha.
We are in Philly, don't know if this makes a difference, timewise.
Peace, Mal

hmm well I am just about 45 minutes west of Philly
Seems like they allow an awful long time to get each step taken care of. But I guess I will just have to be patient
I understand on the no clue when a kid will come - TOTALLY!
Though I am not looking for a baby, so I have done some basic upgrades to the 'room' changing it from a more 'adult' guest room to a generic kid room (total spent about $40 - we want her to be able to get what she likes for the room)
Thanks for the input!
