We have been matched with a birth mom out of Orlando and we are from BC, Canada. Of course this will be our first trip to Florida as our daughter is from MD. THe pbmom is due in December, right at high season for tickets, hotels, etc and I am just really stumped on where we should be staying or looking to stay. We are going to make a bit of a holiday out of this trip (as much as we can with a 2 1/2 year old and a newborn) so being within a fairly decent driving distance to Disneyworld is definately a consideration. Our agency is about an hour away from DWorld and because we will probably only be going there once or twice, I think closer to the holiday attractions would be best. Any advise from Orlando residents would be awsome!
Thanks,
Tara

Look for extended-stay business hotels (Extended Stay America, Suburban Lodge, Sun Suites, Residence Inn by Marriott, etc.), and short-term rental corporate apartments. Both will likely be less expensive and have a kitchen in-room/suite and either in-suite or in-facility laundry. They are generally less expensive or equal to tourist hotels.

I recently adopted in Chicago. I called the hospital where the baby was to be born and asked for suggestions of hotels nearby. There were several hotels in the area that offered discounts for hospital-related visits - and apparently adoption qualifies. The hospital where our baby was born even had some apartments on campus that they rented out to patients' families and DH and I stayed there for a week, it was wonderful - kitchen laundry etc and right near the hospital - worth checking out!

Thanks for all of the great suggestions everyone. I acctually looked into the time share idea only for the discounted stay of course! I am finding all kinds of hotels on the net but still have not figured out exactly what I am doing. All that we know is we need a place with at least a fridge. I can do without the rest of a kitchen but really do need a fridge if possible. There seems to be enough of them out there. Another issue is the short notice thing. Am I going to be able to find anything available at such short notice, probably right around Christmas or newyears? It is all such a cloudy dream right now with all kinds of uncertainties of where to go, when to go, how we get anywhere etc! If I could only have all of the answers....

If you can find a place, I would reccomend you get your reservations in ASAP. The company I work for (Tropical Tours) the only way to have christmas/new years reservations is to book 60 days in advance. But don't let that get you down, the market we target is to customers who are coming with the intentions of purchasing timeshare. Have you checked any of the fairfield inn's? I know we have a lot of them around here, and I believe you CAN get a room w/ a fridge. Also, the florida mall has a hotel inside of it, it's called Adam's Mark. They're a bit more pricey, that's where a lot of celebs stay when they come to orlando, so I'm sure they can take reserves. on a short notice. The Holiday Inn Express at Summer Bay has also been known for traveling customers in less than 30 days, they're 6 miles from the gates at Disney, and even provide shuttle service to/from the attractions. Best of luck to ya!!

I would recommend staying somewhere off International Drive. This has easy access to the main highway through Orlando, as well as close proximity to Disney and the other parks. There are several suite style hotels here that have mini kitchens in them, and when we have visitors they usually stay at the Summerfiled Suites where you can have 1 or 2 bedroom suites, with a kitchenette and free breakfast. The number is 407-352-2400 (or wyndham.com) Or there is a Marriott Courtyard if you prefer, but I think their rates are higher.
Feel free to PM me if you have ?'s---I live close to all the parks and know the area well.

PS--The timeshares are great, but last minute planning for one during this time of year??? Wouldn't recommend it.
