I NEED ALOT OF IDEAS FOR MY DAUGHTER WHO IS THREE YEARS OLD ADOPTION PARTY. I'M CLUELESS. HELP PLEASE....
I think that for a three year old just a big birthday-type party would be fun. What is she in to? Blues Clues? Dora? The Backyardigans? (My daughters newest favorite.) How many people are you planning on? My dd turned two in Nov. we are finalizing at the end of this month and plan to have just an open-house type celebration (our house isn't big enough to have an all-out party with the # of people we are inviting, and they will be mostly adults). Your daughter may be old enough that she will remember the party so I would just make sure that it is all about her.

How about a book party? Ask attendees to bring their favorite book from their childhood and write a note to the child in the front cover
I did this once for a baby shower - it was a huge hit.

SRJ, I don' know how soon your wanting to throw this party, but if your willing to wait until March or even April, when it's early Spring and the flowers are just starting to bloom and the sun comes out from hiding, I would do this: Go to a real pretty park, or an arboretum type area, make sure there is park benches and picnic tables, maybe a state park area would work , by a lake, anyways, hire a photographer to come out and take a beautiful "family portrait" of just you and your husband and your new daughter. Invite friends and relatives to come, it can be a picnic or cook out, buy a instamatic (polaroid)camera and bring a scrapbook, you can take photos of your daughter with her grandparents, pictures of her with Aunts, Uncles, cousins etc. and put them in her scrapbook. Shes at a good age, she probably likes dolls, why not buy her a cabbage patch doll. They come with birth certificates, you can get her a doll and let her name her doll. A great way to explain
adoption to her, shes the new mommy to her doll just like you are her new mommy. I guess, what Im trying to say is shower her with all the love and attention you possibly can, really give it your all, just make sure this day stands out, and doesn't feel like a typical day at the house. Im sure it will be a wonderful memory that she will grow up to remember and always treasure. Plus she'll have her "adoption day scrapbook" full of photos to reflect back on , should she forget. hope you like this idea. It's something we'll do when it's our turn. Malificient. :p
