I had good luck walking into the Fairfax County record room in 1993. I gathered the 3 files that were missing info (no sex listed, or no agency, etc), went to the counter and asked for the files. I walked out w/ my son's adopted name and the city where his family lived when he was adopted. I then checked the area high schools and looked at yearbooks. When I saw his picture...there was no doubt!
As a birthparent I had all pertinent information. (my son's birthdate, hospital, agency, etc)
