To All Members of the Triad:
In recent years, many birth mothers and adoptees have felt compelled to publish personal memoirs of their reunions.
We are all enlightened and inspired by their stories. But...is this the whole story?
What about the siblings whose lives are also changed forever by these revelations? Until now, their voices have gone largely unheard.
I and my colleague, birth mother and author Donna Montalbano, have decided to give voice to those silent siblings, by publishing a compilation of true life narratives written from the hearts of the brothers and sisters of adoption. We are confident that our book will be as powerful, insightful, joyful and heartbreaking as any adoption memoir ever published.
Please open a dialogue today with your son or daughter or sibling, and ask them if they would like to share their stories. Let them know that the true impact of adoption can never be known without them. We will honor their anonymity unless otherwise stated.
We look forward to hearing from potential contributors as soon as possible.
Please respond to Susan at: mama_mazenga@thesamesmile.com
Warm Regards,
Susan Mello Souza (author of The Same Smile, an adoption memoir)
Donna Montalbano (author of The House on Benefit Street, a mystery thriller)

Good morning,
Yes, our submission deadline is June 30, 2005.
If you would like to receive the submission and guideline forms, please contact me at: contact@neaspa.com so I can send them to you personally.
Best...Susan
Hi. I was just wondering if you knew when it is you will let people know if you are using the story the submit or not.
I sent mine in (I'm an adoptee) and my sister Karen is going to send her's in hopefully before the deadline. (She was not adopted out, and a perfectionist so she may never send hers in!LOL)
Thanks
Wendy
Hi Wendy,
Funny you should ask, I just sent your sister Karen the submission form.
We are still reading through all the stories and are NO WHERE near done because we are also busy preparing for our writing workshop at the AAC Conference in Vegas in July. We are thinking of extending the deadline to accommodate any submissions we receive as a result of the conference.
Rest assured, we will notify you the moment we know which ones will be used. It is our hope to use most of them as they are all very interesting. There are so many different sibling stories we feel the more scenarios we tell the better for all who read our book.
Thanks for writing, Wendy, and we will be in touch.
Best....Susan
