I go thru spurts of baby name choosing...for three years John and I had a name picked for a girl...but now that name has become so common, I'm looking for something else.
He would like the girls name to include either Hope or Faith as the middle name...
I kinda like Lillian (Lilly)...but I go back and forth.
I am ok with traditional but I like names where there wont be 6 of them in his/her kindergarten class...
I'm also hoping to come up with a good list of boy's names for us to talk about...
My son's name is Jerrett and he has two middle names, which would be ok for the newest Hagz also :)

Well, because I am a school teacher I really prefer unusual or unique names... You know, you can only say a name so many times a day... I can't immagine my child having a name that one of my students has... It took forever to name our son becuase every name my DH came up with I would seem to know or would have taught a "bad" kid with that name...LOL... We finally settled on Slade Everett (Everett being my husband's middle name)... Needless to say, there are'nt many Slade's running around.... The following names are ones I really love and hope I have the chance to use sometime in the NEAR future when we adopt another child :-)
Boys: Vaden Todd (Todd's my husband's first name)
Rhys Alexander (pronounced like Reese)
Girls: Brennah Noelle
Mauri Elle Dene'

This is our current favorite topic of discussion. A boys name is set in stone: Dawson Joshua That is Josh's Mom's Dad's middle name (Dawson) and he wanted to do something to honor Grandpa Charlie. :D And Joshua, obviously is Josh's name. ;) Girl names ... that's another story. No middle names. We can't agree on ANYTHING. And we change "favorites" from DAY to DAY. Seriously. Haleigh (my top favorite because we're using the "lee" sound spelled as my middle name, Leigh) JanieAnnieGraceLayla And a myriad of other names. He keeps vetoing everything I say, which makes me mad, mad, mad! I keep reminding him, as did an old coworker we spoke with recently, that I sign the birth certificate. ;) LOL! He wants to use the middle name Ann to honor his aunt, the last Hatfield woman, who died when she was 16 in a car accident. However, Ann is hard to place with some of the names we've chosen. So, we'll see. I sort of wanted to keep Leigh in the family somehow as Munchkin also bears my middle name which was my Great-grandmother's middle name and HER grandmother's middle name. Yes, we're big on family names. We're verrrrrry boring. ;)

When I was pregnant with Anna, we had the boy's name instantly... Jacob Michael, which of course, was one of many indicators that it wouldn't be a boy!!
Finally settled on a girls name on the way to the hospital. When she was a preschooler and I told her the story she said that it took me that long to understand that was what she "wanted" to be named... LOL!
Now, really glad she wasn't a Jacob, cause there are lots her age, in fact was the most popular for that year!
Elizabeth, I didn't find your list strange at all, except that you divided them by syllables!!! :p - never even crossed my mind.
A favorite girls name: Chenoa (Native American - 3 syllables)
Favorite boys name: Locklin (Irish - 2 syllables) and Zebbediah, nickname Zeb or Zeby (don't know origin, just the name of a friends extremely cute son!! - 4 syllables)
Of course, all are subject to change on a whim...
Suddenly, I feel that I'll be paying attention to number of syllables the next time I make a baby name list for fun! :D

I've always liked the name Cameron for a boy or girl, but it's become pretty common and I've always liked names that are a little uncommon.

Matt was set on Jacob for a boy.... I think he's leaning away from it now, thank goodness (just tooooo many Jacobs...)
For a girl, I always wanted an Emily Katherine. But when it came down to it, we decided Emily was too popular (also number one for numerous years recently).
So, we switched to Elise Courtney. Elise is actually a very traditional name--German--means "consecrated to God." (And we're not religious... haha.) But it's not so super popular, and we both liked it. There is a Cure song called "Letter to Elise," and that is what clinched it for us. :) Only problem we have with it is people wanting to say "Elsie."
Now for a boy, Matt likes Gavin. Not sure how I feel on that yet... Seems to me it could be either very nerdy or very cool. So what if he's just an average kid, and not super-cool? Would his name make him seem more nerdy? (Yes, these are stupid things I think about...)
If we have another girl, her name will be Trinity. Possibly Trinity Leigh...

p.s. Doesn't it suck when the guys veto everything? Matt vetoed all my Shakespearean names... said Ophelia sounds like a prostitute's name. :o :(
My husband, who I never thought would, had curiously strong opinions about names. My requirements were that I wanted something familiar but not too popular.
I think boy's names are the hardest -- so many have geek potential (Like is Milo cool or geeky?)
Coolest name I've heard lately...Rufus! It was really cute on the kid who had it. I met him at the same time I met a kid named Angus-- it was very odd...I thought they were related--they were just kids who had similar parents I guess!

I choose names, not just on how they sound, but what they mean. Each of my boys has a neme that tells part of the history of our people-we are Choctaw. Each of their names originated from a different language, which perfectly suited them for my muti-racial children. Oh, by the way, don't bother trying to choose a name that people can pronounce or spell. You have no idea how many ways people try to spell Lane, and I thought it couldn't get any easier.
