This seems to be a quiet board. Is that because nothing is moving in Belarus right now? Does anyone have any recent information about adopting from Belarus. What is the current length of time children have to be on the data bank? What is the youngest age a child will be by the time they come home? Any idea on how long you have to wait for a referral? Any information would be great. Jane

I didnt adopt from Belarus, but I had heard that the only children that are going to get through this year are the couples that had went to Belarus and had to come back without their children. That might be wrong or might change. I am sorry I dont have more info for you. Hopefully someone that is adopting from Belarus will have more to give you.

I'm not sure if I can copy and paste here, but the U.S Department of State's homepage had an update (dated Feb. 14, 2005) that basically said that the only adoptions going through now are the ones halted in late 2004. Also, no new children will most likely be adopted in 2005. However, I have hope to believe this is very temporary-- I have been to Belarus and myself am from Russia-- the govenment itself has no rules, though they claim to. It really comes down to money and power... so keep on praying and hoping if you are planning to adopt from this country.Don't give up!
