I am engaged to be married. I have a six year old daughter, whom has never met her biological father. I have not had any contact in almost 6 years. I do not recieve any child support. The father is not on the birth certificate. My fiance' loves my daughter and would like to adopt her but I am hesitant due to circumstances of her father. I am not sure of his legal rights. He would have to prove paternity since he is not on the birth certificate. Do I have to search for him? I don't have a last known address or know his social security. We were both in the same Army unit. What are my legal responsibilities to this, and what rights does her father have?
