Just wanted to warn anyone else adopting internationally. As part of our dossier we needed to get a police clearance letter, notorized, certified, etc.
We live in Howard Co. and because of the large # of international adoptions they actually have a woman in charge of this, according to her she does several each week. Unfortunately their notary's commision expires this week, so anyone who has gotten a clearance letter but has not gotten their refferal letter before this week has an invalid letter. The notory's commision must still be valid when the country logs you in and makes a match. While we clearly spelled this out in our written correspondance with them, it was ignored.
Now we have to get it redone and luckily they have found a different notary they are willing to use, but this will slow our dossier down by almost a month. When we called to complain and get it straightened out, that's when I was told that they do these all the time and it was just us and our agency that were being too picky. I fear not. So I just urge anyone else who has had this done to check and double check their dates, especially if working with Howard County. I have been so good about it with our other paperwork, and somehow this one slipped past me, so I only have myself to blame. Hope you-all have better luck! :(
