Hi, I am trying to get support from WUNC to do a story on the international adoption ban on children from romania - they are very interested in the story but are looking for a north carolina connection.
The reason I got involved is a family friend in New Zealand - my home country - has had to take her foster son of 4 years back to Romania becuase the government there 'recalled' him. He is just 6 years old. Their intent is to put him back in an orphanage! Go figure!
Anyway - I became aware of the large number of families that were in various stages of adoption of romanian children that are now in limbo since the law passed... but don't know of any NC families affected.
Would you be willing to talk to WUNC about your experience - or know any one who is in the middle of an adoption that is now in limbo - or had their foster child 'recalled'?
Thank you so much for your help - my name is Rae Sullivan, my phone number is 919-388-5754 and my email is raezveyz@hotmail.com
Thanks again
Rae
Rae - have you tried the North Carolina group?

or have you tried contacting FRUA North Carolina?

They would likely know some Romania families

I am from Romania and looking forward to adopt from my own country in the future (for now - this is impossible). I live in NY but I would like to get involved. Please let me know if there is any way I can be of help.
