Our social worker, who is very pro-open adoption, suggested that we may wait a long, long time if we choose this route. Has anyone here completed a confidential adoption, and how long did it take? We are working through an adoption attorney.

We chose closed too, we feel that is the right choice. Our adoption only took 9 mos from start to finsh & we usd an agency. Don't be bullied into an open situation. Stand firm in your decision!

We did not do a fully closed adoption, but semi-open. We agreed to confidentiality between the parties, although we met our son's birthmom. Everything was on a first name basis. We provide letters and photos of our son to her through the agency. There is no direct contact. This works best for us. I know that there are many advocates out there for open adoption, but do what feels right for you and the birthmom.
