My husband and I have decided that a closed adoption is what we're more comfortable with. Our social worker, who is very pro-open adoption, suggested that we may wait a long, long time if we choose this route. Has anyone here completed a confidential adoption, and how long did it take? We are working through an adoption attorney.

We chose closed too, we feel that is the right choice. Our adoption only took 9 mos from start to finsh & we usd an agency. Don't be bullied into an open situation. Stand firm in your decision!

We did not do a fully closed adoption, but semi-open. We agreed to confidentiality between the parties, although we met our son's birthmom. Everything was on a first name basis. We provide letters and photos of our son to her through the agency. There is no direct contact. This works best for us. I know that there are many advocates out there for open adoption, but do what feels right for you and the birthmom.

We choose open adoption, just because we feel it is so important for our twin boy's, we don't want them to grow up not not knowing - and once they get older (now 14 month) they will be able to say if they do or do not want to see bmom
