Hello friends,Today we received a letter giving us instructions to call to make the appointment with the Baltimore County/Department of Health for the inspection. They sent us a checklist, but we would like to know what else we should know and worry before they come home. Tomorrow I'll do the appointment, please let us know your comments.thank you for your time,

Something that I was told after my inspections which I wish I knew before...... You can't "Fail".
If they find something that is not suitable for a placement, let's say you don't have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen or you don't have plug covers for your outlets, it is mentioned in their report. Then, you make an effort to correct those things by the time the SW comes for her final inspection- no biggie.
We sailed through our health and fire inspection without problem but then our SW was upset that we did not have a lock on our basement door, a gate on our outside deck steps, a gate at the bottom of our steps, and that I was in the middle of removing wallpaper in our hallway. We just need to make sure these have been corrected by our first post placement visit which is the next time she comes to the house.
So, the point is, even if everything is not perfect, it shouldn't slow you down.
Good Luck! :)

When we post, we always wait for your answers. Thank you for your insights. We have to change the lock of the door that goes to the basement - it has no lock and should have it. This weekend we will be working around the house withthe checklist to try to be clean as much as we can! many blessings,
we're in Baltimore city so some of the requirements may be different. one thing we had to do was make sure that none of our locks required a key to open from the inside. we had to get 2 locks changed to the type that you unlock from the outside with a key, but from the inside by flipping a bar.
Don't worry. It was easy. Get a thermometer for your refrigerator and freezer. Make sure that all bedrooms have smoke detectors and windows have screens. Also have an ABC extinquisher in kitchen and if you have a furnace. That is what they looked at in my house. I too live in Baltimore County and my inspection was done in late November. Andie
