I am looking for anyone born January 1976 in or around Cape Girardeau, Mo. I talked to the Division of Family Services and she had all the info I needed but could not give it out because of closed adoption. I am looking for a male born 1/3/76 weighing only 4lbs. That is really all the information I have. If its even helpful because I have learned Birth Certificates can be changed(Location and Date) are all I know that can be changed. Anyone PLEASE HELP

You can get the birth index from the state, the birth index will list all the children born on that specific date (if you know the hospital or county, etc...) then you can start to rule out names you know you aren't looking for...such as girls names, then any type of ethnic names. The birth index will have the child's adopted name on it.

Thank you but the birth index doesn't seperate by county or hospital its for all the people born on a certain date and all it provides is the name. I don't know if that would be very helpful. The costy of the birth index went up to $52.50 also.

the birth index is a good tool if the birthmother named her child - but an be used by anyone searhing - births that were amended will have an "A" next to their entry - naturally this stand for amended - these are the entries you would search - since you are looking for male you would eliminate all girl names - then ethnic names - this will greatly reduce your search - it is a shame that the state has doubled the cost but if affordable could be your solution

I have recieved the birth index for that day and year and none of the names have an "A" by them. The lady I called to get the list says that they don't put that on there.

I am from Cape Girardeau, and I work at one of the local hospitals. I do know that when a baby is born it will not have any name on it. It has Baby Wednesday or what ever day they are born on. This is only different if it is an open adoption, then they will put the given name. If you have any questions for me you can email me at julzdp@hotmail.com.

My certificate says I was born January 18th in Springfield. Your post is the closest thing I've found. If this is not helpful, then best of luck with your search if it is still ongoing.
