I'm having a bit of an identity crisis!
I know I'm a birthmom, and that's fine and wonderful with me...but what will my baby call me?
Any birthparents out there know their young children? What do they call you?
I don't know what to sign birthday cards as...I don't feel comfortable signing Mom yet my first name isn't right either...plus I don't want to offend the adoptive parents.
Help if you can!

I sign: 'Love always,Jen' I know what's right for some, isn't for others, but this was the most comfortable for me in my relationship with my bdaughter and her family.. For me, signing 'mom', would totally be belittling to her amom, ya know? And until she's old enough to choose a title herself, or to give me a nickname, my first name suffices IMO. Good luck!

I generally stick with my first name but then, I am uncomfortable with titles in general. I've also gotten in the habit of writing my cell phone number under my name. Both of them are too young to call it now but it keeps it fresh in the aparents' minds (they call me sometimes) and when it changes, I won't forget to give it to them. The a-mom of my third (2nd placed) was the one who started it. She said it was, "so I know they welcome my calls' and I'm not sure whether to believe her or not but it does make it easy to find the number.
So I sign:
Love,
(first name)
555-555-5555
All the others have made great suggestions. If my bson was still young and in an open adoption I would have sent cards with me signing my first name. However we are in reunion now and first whenever I sent him emails I always signed off with my first name but things have progressed that he calls me mum so I sign my emails (and a card I sent at xmas) as Mum.
