WE COME HERE TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO
WERE KILLED, THOSE WHO SURVIVED AND
THOSE CHANGED FOREVER.
MAY ALL WHO LEAVE HERE KNOW THE
IMPACT OF VIOLENCE.
MAY THIS MEMORIAL OFFER
COMFORT. STRENGTH, PEACE,
HOPE AND SERENITY.
The words are engraved in one of the gates at the Oklahoma City National Memorial. http://www.oklahomacitynationalmemorial.org/
It is surreal to stand under the Survivor's Tree and to gaze upon the chairs that represent the lives that were cut short. We never thought that it would happen here. Oklahoma was always safe...the only thing we worried about was the occasional tornado. We are forever changed. We will NEVER forget.
Oklahoma is recovering, but many tears are still shed. There is still grief for those that were lost, but we hold on to hope. We have a heightened awareness of tragedy and a continually renewed commitment to end violence.

I will always remember that day. My family visited the museum. My daughter and her friend did not want to cry, but they could not stop the tears.
