Dunno how many of you are familiar with the nightmare of trying to get mail in and out of Panama. Well, it gets there, but doesn't always get delivered. it's notoriously unreliable.
Seriously, Derek's uncle was expecting something in the mail and called the post office after a long wait. They admitted they had it, but were waiting for more mail to come for him so it would be worth their while to deliver it. And he's in a suburban area, not the boonies!
Because we know how hairy getting something to/from Panama can be, we looked into different options to make sure our Power of Attorney made it quickly (and actually was delivered).
We decided to go with UPS and sent it express, and expected it to take 2 business days. It was $58. DHL quoted us $113 and an extra day!! Yikes. $58 is a hefty postage stamp, but I think it was worth it, in the long run.
Took the document to the UPS Store around 1PM Monday, and it was in Panama city 14 hrs later.
Guess this is sorta a plug for UPS, but really it's just info for folks who may have needed to know a decent delivery service. Especially for anyone who may be going independent and was concerned about getting important papers to their lawyer. It was one thing I dreaded when we went indpendent.
Took one more worry off our minds.
