I just got all the initial paperwork emailed to me to re-certify to be foster parents! It took me about 20 minutes to print it all out but if i remember right its just the beginning. Our CORE training from 3 years ago was transferred so that was so nice. We will see if we will have to completely redo our home study or just update it. Im a bit nervous about our families because we havent told anyone that we are doing this again... they were super supportive the last time but we only had 2 kiddos and we adopted one and only had the other for 10 days so yeah... but im super excited! Time to get the baby stuff back out!

We pretty much had to go with a different agency because we moved about 45 minutes further away from our old one. THe first time we fostered through a county just north of us because we were told we couldnt foster through our county because my hubby is a police officer in a town within that county. They didnt want a conflict of interest if he happened to arrest the parents and then we got a call for their kiddos if that makes sense. So we were driving an hour each way 3 times a week for visits and now that we've moved even further away I am not willing to drive an hour and 40 minutes each way 3 times a week for visits... since the county we moved to is combined with our old county for fostercare we are going with an agency in the county south of us... its a bit confusing. I apologize for that. We just found out that this new county has the highest rate of child neglect and abuse in the whole state and they are desperate for foster parents. Its sad but Im glad we can help
We are re-certifing this month too :)
Have fun! We took a 6 month break, fostered 2 newborns both were supposed to go towards adoption, they had already checked all family members and all. 6 months into the placement the tribe takes over. DHS said they had no clue he was tribal.
We took another 3 month break and they said that our license expired - so worker is coming out tonight to re-certify.
Oh wow! thats crazy about the tribe stepping in. We were told our daughter was part of a tribe (so said her mom) but after a year of DHS writing to 7-8 different tribes they quit ...my cw said it was pretty much to make mom happy. My daughter is a strawberry blond with pale skin and greenish grey eyes... Good luck re-certifying! What do you have to do? We've been out of fostering for a year and are switching to an agency so we have to do everything except classes and just updating the home study instead of the whole thing...
We just had to have a walk-through and make sure everything was still safe and met the standards.
We passed with flying colors with the exception that we have to have a hand rail for the stairs - okay we have been fostering for 3 years, have had 22 newborns/toddlers and probably about 25 cw out to our house and no one in that time said this was an issue. LOL!
But we had already planned on doing this so it will not be a problem.
We quit fostering just last December and let our license expire. They came to us and asked us to please re-certify!!! We need you back!
So we are getting back into it :)
