We have been fostering the same two girls, 5 & 7yo, for just over two years, and they have recently been freed for adoption. Because one of the girls has the name Whisky Rose, we are considering changing names upon adoption. Has anyone gone through this process? How did your children feel?
Former foster children of mine changed their names when they were adopted by a family friend. They were 9 and 12. It was their choice to change and they chose their new names. It took awhile to call them the new names, but it worked out fine for them.

My 2 little ones were 7 and 8 and both wanted to change their names and both picked out new names. It didn't take long for everyone to adjust.
M changed her middle name. There is a place on the petition to adopt for what the child will be named/called post adoption. Easy peasy.
I would definitely change that name too. I just wanted to add that you might want to edit the name out because of privacy/confidentiality concerns. Good luck!!

Thank you Loveajax :) I've been trying to get it removed from two places since the threads started. I didn't realize my real name was posted anywhere, but now I have an admin helping me :)
