Hi my name is Melissa. I am married to a wonderful man named Jon, together we have 1 biological child who is going to be 9, as well as 3 foster children. 3 and 4 yr old brothers and a 16 mo girl.
We have been fostering for about 6 months so we are still quite new, but have been broke in fast!
I would love to chat. I love the idea of being able to come here and bounce things off of other foster families.
Hi Melissa!
I just wanted to welcome you to the forum. We are not planning to foster, but instead are waiting to adopt a sib group of younger children. Everyone here is wonderful and I'm sure you'll find lots of folks to chat with about fostering those lit'l ones. We're a bit nervous about the day we finally bring home our kids, but I have faith it will all work out just the way it is supposed to and we have lots of family and friend and neighbor support.
This will also bump up your post so more will see it. Have a great day! :D

Hi Melissa! Boy, you did start out fast! We have been foster parents for a little over a year now. Our foster daughter will be released for adoption in mid-May and we are adopting her. Our little foster son, L will be leaving us to live with bio G'ma tomorrow. We are sad, but happy for him. We have only had him 2 months. We have had J since she was 3 months old.
We are being considered for a sib set of a 20 mo girl and a 3 mo boy. They will most likely be fost/adopt.
Our 7 yo we adopted through a private agency at birth with an open adoption planned. That did not work out as bio mom could not stay within our agreed boundaries and it became too upsetting for our daughter. We still send pics once a year but that is all, at least until she is older.
Would love to chat with another very busy mom!!
Hugs of welcome,
Vickie
Melissa, Im glad you stopped by, hopefully you'll come back to these boards for alot of insight and laughter, too! I'm married and have 3 bio. kids, all boys, ages 8 - 16, we are a licensed foster/adopt home, we of course, are hoping to foster than a dopt a girl between the ages of birth and 6. I am unable to have any more kids, otherwise, we'd keep trying..... We are newly licensed, as of March 2005. We have not had a placement as of yet, I work out of the home FT, and want to be a SAHM (stay at home mom)before we start doing fostercare. I work in the school district, as a teaching asst. When school lets out the end of May, I won't be returning in the FALL, I'm very anxious to get started, I can hardly wait for my phone to ring. I look forward to hearing more about your kids, and your foster experiences, thus, far. Again, WELCOME!! malificient (aka. karen) :p
Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome!
It is great to have found a board with other foster parents that can understand your feelings!
