My wife and I are just starting this foster/ foster to adopt process and we r very excited for this journey. We r I the fence as to how to start. Either by fostering to get our feet wet or to just jump into foster to adopt children ready for adoption. Some feedback from the veterans would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome! I think it depends on what age you are looking to adopt. If you want young kids, under 4, then fostering with the hope to adopt might be best, because the child's current foster parents usually adopt the younger set. If you want older kids or sibs, then either way is fine. The benefit of fostering first is that you can potentially foster your adopted kids without the need for another transition.
We are fostering, and our first baby went to adoption quickly. At this point we are fostering one child and leaving one spot open in our home in case the perfect adoptive placement comes along (we only want to adopt one more).

Thank you, we currently have 3 bio sons 16, 12 and 2. We are looking for a girl or girls ages from 0-4. We are willing to accept siblings if needed and we were leaning toward foster to adopt to avoid that transition. Are u using your local fostering program or another agency? We are researching adoptuskids. Do u have any experience or knowledge of anyone using the org.?
AdoptUSKids is just a Photolistings Advocacy Site.
When you have your Family's Home Study completed. They will forward it to the Child's Social Worker.
This Forum also has a Awesome and 'Stellar' Photolistings Web Page also!!
Fostering is you Foster until another Adoption placement or reunification with the Biological Family occurs.
Fostering to Adopt, would give you almost guarantee or automatic Adoption Privileges. Unless someone else came forward.
From ' Been There and Done That '. With regards to the Photolistings.
It is also very competitive or more competitive. Than your local DCFS is!!
