Well, I'm not sure if this thread totally belongs here, but I don't know where else to put it...
After three years and much disappointment, DH and I (especially me) had pretty much written off getting pregnant. We put all of our energy (and happily so, I might add) into adoption over the last year and a half.
But guess what? I think the universe had other plans for us right now, because today I went for my first prenatal appointment and I'm six weeks along! We took a HPT as soon as I missed my cycle, so we pretty much knew then, but I wanted to wait to tell until we'd at least seen the doctor.
I can't believe it! We weren't trying or anything. Just fooled around on a weekend getaway, and POW! :D Surprise!
We're really excited, but also really nervous. Our last PG ended (badly, badly, badly) at 8 weeks, so we're not out of the woods yet. I had some VERY light spotting yesterday, but Bean is fine according to the Doctor. We had an early US and an exam, and all seems to be as it should.
Still, if you could, please...pray with us that Bean grows and grows fast and furiously!
I'll keep everyone posted as things progress. Thanks for sharing this happy news with me!

Coco, Glad to hear everything is going well :) I'm loving the transition from "here, put your hand here, you should be able to feel him kick within a couple minutes" and after a while I just got a blank look because nothing was happening... from that to "Holy cow! Look at what he's doing to your stomach!" as I am bulging and protruding from the pummeling within :p
So...in case I didn't get enough of a heart attack after the whole windshield thing, I guess, I fell pretty hard at work yesterday.
It scared me more than anything, though my left knee is now an ugly, swollen bruiser. I made them take me to the hospital, not for the knee so much, but for Bean. I'm almost certain I caught myself before my tummy ever hit anything, but I was terrified.
The EMT in the ambulance nearly got a punch in the face, since she kept insisting that I didn't need to get checked at L & D. She kept saying stupid things like "You obviously don't know how the bag of waters works." and "I've had three kids, I know what I'm talking about." Of course, I felt no inclination to share my story with a complete stranger (who was also a complete idiot  ), so I didn't even bother to tell her I'd already given birth myself. Then at the ER, she kept repeating to the nurses and anyone else who would listen that I only had knee pain, and didn't need to get the baby checked.
I insisted. I told the admitting lady to ignore her. I told the nurses and the doctor and everyone else within earshot that nobody was going to make me go anywhere unless I got my baby checked out. Lucky for them, they agreed with me. Thank God, he's just fine. Good heart tones, lots of movement. No bleeding or cramping.
Maybe I should just check myself in! Apparently, walking and driving are too dangerous for me these days...
Thanks Christine...I may look into one of the little scooters, LOL. Though at the rate I'm going, I could end up in a 4-scooter pileup or something.
I feel almost silly posting this stuff. Like I'm creating drama or something, KWIM? But...it was very scary at the time. I'm just glad things were OK once again.

Coco,
I have a story I know you will appreciate. Saturday I went to my Doc. They had a new lady doing the pre-doctor work, and they asked if I would mind if she worked with me. (Along with a regular). She asked me alot of the same questions that I had already answered (I am assuming it was so she could learn). When she asked when my lmp was, I told her (back in April). She get the little wheel, spins it around, and announces - "Well, Congratulations! You are 9 weeks pregnant!". After laughing, I told her try again - I was about 22 weeks pregnant. (If I looked like this at 9 weeks, YIPES!). She blushed, and tried again. She got closer the second time. She also forgot to take my BP or weigh me. As I was leaving she came after me, and asked if I could come back for them - she was very sorry. :) I found the whole thing very funny.
Oh - my visit went well - my ds got to hold the doppler box while my dh held the wand thing. My ds had such a smile on his face, listening to his little sister 'talk' to him!! Everything is going OK, but my Doc has decided to up my visits a little eariler than the original plan. So I am now going to start going every 2 weeks. (That shouldn't have happened for at least 6 more weeks).
:)
Spitz,
How funny! So she looked you right in the eye and told ya 9 weeks, huh? :D Thank goodness she wasn't the DOCTOR. ;)
So cute about DS getting to hold the doppler and listen to his baby sister! That's interesting news about moving up the 2-week visits; I guess your doc just wants to keep an extra close eye on you and there's no reason for alarm, though? If they didn't give you a specific reason, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm still seeing my OB once a month but I also have to go into the Perinatologist every six weeks, then moving up to every three weeks soon, then every week as I get close to due date, for continued Level II ultrasounds. I was shocked that my insurance paid for it all. *shrug* Not that I'm complaining. If I had my way, I'd have had weekly visits from day 1.
Ooh! In other news, everyone, we went to have our 3D/4D ultrasound for "entertainment" purposes Saturday. My big boy has the longest legs and big feet! He poked himself right in the eye with his toe as we were watching. :D He's just a sweet, precious thing.
The website is up, though it only has 4 pictures plus a very round, bright pink-shirted and tired, bloated looking expanse of me with Dh attempting to hold me around the middle-HA! :p
If you want the link and code, PM me with your e-mail. I'll try to send out a few other good shots as well.

A friend who has a now 3 month old brought over their left over size 1 diapers.
Coco, if you really want to get a good perspective on just how darn cute your babe will be, hold up a pair of those itty biddy size ones with a newborn onsie next to your ultrasound pics. Ooh, how those tiny things can steal my heart! :p

Ahhh...the THIRD TRIMESTER! :D
We are 2/3 of the way home, baby!
Bean is getting bigger and stronger. He enjoys using my bladder to bounce himself around. I spend much of my allotted sleep time in the bathroom now, LOL! He kicks me hard and then rolls, quite pleased with himself, I think.
I have to take my 1-hour glucose test next Thursday. I really hope I pass since all of my nesting is coming out in the form of yummy and sugar-laden baked goods.
My two girlfriends, S & J, have started planning a shower for me, which is so nice! We're forgoing the traditional baby pastels in favor of a fall theme. I'm so excited!
I am longing for fall weather and I need new maternity pants to cover the vastness of my pumpkin belly. That's about it for now. :)
