Applications that have already been submitted will continue to be processed, said Ukraine's Ministry of Youth and Sport. The new department is expected to be operating within two months, at which time applications will be accepted again, said ministry spokesman Mykola Yabychenko.

I took our dossier to our agency today. They are going to FedEx it tomorrow to our facilitator in Ukraine. He still thinks he might be able to get some submitted, I hope so. I can't even think about the possibility of maybe having to do new or different paperwork. I ran around like a headless chicken all day today getting everything together, but it will be worth it if we get it submitted next week. Jane

We were registered on June 10 and submitted (with some updated paperwork) our appoinment request within 10-14 days. We received a letter back last week stating that they are not giving any more appointments for the remainder of the year, and that they would notify us in Dec or Jan of a 2006 appointment. We had requested September. Just a heads up for anyone hoping to travel by the end of the year.

My wife and I received our confirmation letter form the the NAC this week (7/27) and were provided a registration number on 7/18. The letter does indicate to submit in writing a desired date to travel in 2006 poui (year 2006), so there is validity to the earlier post about not accepting anymore appointments in 2005. Our American sponsor has indicated we can put a December date and word it in a way to indicate first available.
This is very frustrating, we started the process in October of 2004 and it will be over a year plus once we get our little one.
What has been the average time form start to finish for those that read this board and have adopted from the Ukraine?

The NAC didn't stop to take the documents from the foreigners. That's not true! If it happened to you the best way is to ask your facilitator or interpreter to tell the NAC's workers that you'll go to the competent authorities. Believe me they break the rules when they tell you that they do not accept the documents. I know a lot of examples when people come to NAC, their documents are accepted and then in 1-2 weeks they receive the registration number. If to speak about the appointments. I have to tell you that they really have a lot of them this year, that's why they sent almost everyone, especially those who want to adopt a small child a letter that the appointment should be in 2006.
Hi. My agency emailed me this just this morning:There is no news from Ukraine yet. NAC is still working in its regular schedule. The transition period for NAC is expected for October-March - I mean they are supposed to start the changes during this period of time. Changes would result in stopping acceptance of dossiers for a "month or two" - excerption from a new Minister interview.
