Our dossier was sent for translation yesterday- should be translated and to the N.A.C. by the 27th of June. No idea how we'll be affected by the temporary halt of accepting new apps- but we're trying to remain hopeful. Wish us luck! Anyone else in the same boat?? Would love to hear where the rest of you are in the process....

Here's an update since I last posted... our dossier was accepted! That's the good news. They are/ were working on it (whatever that means exactly) and they found an issue with my medical form. Long story short, my physician didn't fill it out true enough to the Ukrainian Medical Form, so she missed some important info. It was great to hear that they accepted the dossier despite the changes going on, but please keep your fingers crossed for us that this hiccup won't hold us up too much.
Good luck to all of us! If you have recently submitted your dossier, please post! I'd love to know your timelines.

Hi Lana,I am using an agency who sent my dossier to the transaltor(in Ukraine) they use and it cost me $ 500 for this part of the service. I would ask whoever is helping you with your adoption and they would know how to proceed. Yes, once everything is complete with apostilles, then you are ready to get it translated.Good Luck!
Lana,You can have it translated in the US, but it is more costly than doing it in Ukraine and their are only a limited number of translation firms in the US that are Ukrainian certified that would be acceptable to the NAC. Also, the documents and translations have to be legalized in Kyiv after translation and before submission to the NAC.If you are going indy the translation and submission is usually part of your facilitation fee so check with your facilitator. If you are using an agency they will handle this for you.

If your translator/facilitator can get your dossier accepted by NAC before they halt accepting new applications, you should hear back about a registration date in probably 4 to 6 weeks. After you get a registration number, you can request a travel date, but all letters are stating that you should ask for a travel date in 2006 now.
HI,
I'm the OP... it's now the beginning of Sept. and we haven't received our registration letter. I was told by my agency that due to people at the NAC being away for "holiday", things slowed down. (In addition to the slow down due to the changes I suppose.) Anyway, please keep my DH and me in your thoughts... we'd love to get our registration letter and subsequent travel date soon.
August is always slow with so many people on vacation and the Ukrainian Independence Day on the 24th. When we traveled in 2001, we left for Ukraine on September 29th, we were the first people with our agency that had gone since the end of July. Hopefully your letter will arrive soon. Do you have anyone that can check to find out if your dossier has been accepted yet? I know someone that has not had her letter, but her agency knows she has a registration number and date. Must be in the mail somewhere. Jane
Hi again,
Just wanted to give an update... we were concerned because we still hadn't received our registration letter, so our agency finally contact the NAC. Turns out we ARE registered, and no one knows why we haven't received our letter yet! It must be lost in the mail. Soooo.... we're excited... I think..! ;)

Hang in there, your letter is probably on it's way. I was suprised that ours only took 7 days to reach us (and you should have seen the condition it was in!) I hear that sometimes it can take up to 3 weeks and beyond. One person I know had the letter held up by her local post office because they couldnt' figure out the "foreign" handwriting, which suprises me because it is addressed to you in English. Glad to hear you are registered and hope you get some good stuff in the mail this week! :)
