Hi everyone,
Since so many are considering switching countries, I was hoping that we could do a quick survey and sort of roll call.
Is your agency a Bulgarian-based agency or outside Bulgaria?
When were you admitted to the Bulgarian registry?...If you have been in the system long, have you had to renew your paperwork...could you give some idea of what that took or entailed?
And just anything else that you would like to share or pass on.
Me:
I am not yet registered in Bulgaria...I am still waiting on my I-171H.
I am single and looking forward to bringing my first baby home...very nervous and very excited. Have lots of friends and family that are behind me on this...thank goodness.
I am requesting 1 or 2 healthy girls as I think I will be better able to relate and be of help for girls. And their grandma will be very close!!
My agency is a Bulgaria based agency.
I am not inclined to change my mind about Bulgaria because I am simply stubborn and perhaps too little time spent in waiting at this point.
I am in the KY area and have ordered and received the Bulgarian language CD...very anxious to start working on that.
I have been really enjoying this forum and hope that I won't be sitting here talking to myself soon!!
I wish everyone the best and hope that all our efforts toward adopting will be rewarded.
Regards,
KWien

Outside Bulgaria, but I keep in regular contact with my Bulgarian agency. I became close to them during my first daughter's adoption.

Enrolled 12/04. You do not have to update any paperwork until you get to court.
And just anything else that you would like to share or pass on.
Based on information from my Bulgarian atorney, I am switching to Kazakhstan.

I am new to this forum and I am getting ready to start the adoption process and I am very interested in Bulgaria. Can you share any information with me? Like what agency are you using, how long has it taken you...... I am single also and have already adopted a little boy from Russia in 2001. Now he wants a baby brother and this looked to be short trips compared to the Russia program. My home email is mpamj@alltel.net. Thanks for any help you may give me.

I am working with a lawyer in Sofia; no agency. I am also single. i was in Sofia this summer and was able to visit two orphanages. My lawyer was optimistic but the US embassy much less so. They said that at that time, there were 1200 families on the waiting list and only 180 children approved for adoption.
I was approved by the MOJ in April 2005. I have not updated any paperwork and guess I probably won't need to till I have a referral. At this point, I'm waiting to see what happens. They were hoping that the new government would be up and running by September, but I have not heard anything yet.
