How about an "in the news" section. Adoption legislation (domestic), new policy changes, etc.
An international section with updates on a specific country for each newsletter?
Will this be electronic or paper?

This will be in text email form. The regular weekly e-magazine will start going out again soon, so they'll cover the more news type things. The forum (and chat, I should add) newsletter will be specific to what's going on within the forums. If a legislative centered thread is very popular (rather than a news article somewhere), then I'd want a link to that.
How about, for the introductory/premiere issue, a listing of the different boards, who (if anyone) the host/hostesses are, and what kinds of discussions take place therein? I have recently heard members say "oh I didn't realize there was such-and-such an area....."

Heather, great idea about the hosts. I don't think we can do all the boards though... there are a few thousand. Maybe soptlight a few boards a month :)
how about a list of common abbreviations and what they mean. That would be very helpful for those of us just starting out. People always talk about their dh or dd. It took me awhile to figure out what was going on.
