Hard to believe that many of us are already in swing of back-to-school activities, which may include a lot of new things: a new school, new teachers, new books, new clothes... and new opportunities to consider the role our children's adoptive status plays in their school life, if any.

Hi Nancy,
As an adoptive parent and a teacher, the best overall resource I've found for teachers so far is the "Teacher's Guide to Adoption, 2005 edition," by Robin Hillborn

Thanks, Lois! His work is some of my favorite material. I'm so glad that as a teacher, you've found it so valuable.
Nancy, thank you for posting this. It came right on time for me. I had been pondering whether to tell my daughter's new pre-k teacher (that she was adopted) when she starts a new school in a couple of weeks. After reading some of this information, I think I'm going to take a wait and see approach. I'll definitely talk to her about her lesson plan for the year so I can see if there is something that might warrant us taking a different approach.
I need to get around this whole forum more. I never even knew this section existed. Thanks again. :)
Best wishes,
Kelli
