Hi! We live in Clermont, FL and I am having a heck of a time trying to find out where the closest MAPP classes are! The adoption programs are a mess now. I have called at least 20 different phone #'s and get nowhere! These poor kids will never be adopted if it keeps going like this! I was wondering if you knew of one in the Orlando or south lake county area. Also, I have been told two different answers - if I live in lake county I MUST go to a Lake county agency, and others say that is not true! I am so confused! This is absurd! ANY HELP or info would be great! Thanx alot... Caroldeco4now@aol.com

My husband and I took MAPP classes on 436 in Caselberry about 2years ago. I was not well and never had the homestudy. But they told us our certificate was good for 5 years!
Two years later I tried to complete our process, and no one returned my calls.
We felt it was "meant to be" so to speak and moved in a different direction.
This was before the privatization and system changes.
It is really very close to where I am and I can run by there and see if the classes are still held there if you want.
Let me know.
I totally know how you feel, when no one returned my calls I was crazy...and then at some point I called someone else, and they responded. So...we thought that was how we should go, and that's where we went.
Let me know!
HTH!

I am not sure if you got your answer yet. I live in Mascotte and just completed my MAAP class on Aug 16, 2005. For Lake county you need to gothrough Florida Mentor. You can call Henry COX at 352-624-2137. Our classes were held in Leesburg, every Tuesday from 6-9. I am not sure when they are holding another class in Leesburg, but be prepared for the calls not being returned. These people are seriously overworked, but are very nice.
Hope this helps,
Danielle
Have you considered joining adoptfloridastatekids@yahoogroups.com? They can offer a lot of information to you. Join by going to the yahoo group website and search adopt florida kids. This is all foster/adopt information, and I think there are a few other EML's that you can join as well.
I also know that a division of Orlando Regional Hospital--The Howard Philips Center for Children and Families--has taken over some DCF functions in Osceola and Orange Counties. Their phone number is 407-317-7430, maybe they can help you.
Hope this helps :)
