I'm posting this for a friend:
When someone is accutomed to, and functioning well on, a two-times-per-day dosage of Adderall (30 mg per dose), what is the correct dosage of the Extended Release version of Adderall that should be used to replace the regular version?
The doctor put the child on a 30 mg extended release adderall pill - one pill per day. But that doesn't seem right to my friend, hence the question.
She's really fighting the doctor about this one - the Extended Release pills take longer to kick in in the morning, don't seem to work quite as well, and don't work for the whole day. (So she is being told to give him a regular pill later in the day if the XR wears off - but that negates the point of using the XR, doesn't it? Unless there is a point to using the XR pills that she doesn't know about.)
The doctor refuses to write a prescription for the regular pills any more. Any suggestions? Thoughts?
