Hello,
You'd think we would be more familiar with the system in our state, having been through it, being somewhat active in the community and attending our classes here etc. We adopted a few months ago as well.
We are ready to start the process again for a second child. The first time we ended up going through MA after an almost two year wait with not one phone call in RI. This time, we want to stay in RI.
Our ideal placement is a school age girl, second grade or lower, hispanic, AA or biracial.
Anyone adopted school age through the state here? How was your experience? There aren't many kids on the website and we go to all the parties and see very few as well. Does anyone know how many kids are in care here waiting for homes? PM me about your experience in Rhode Island.

Our adoption in RI was thru a private agency but if you do the PRIDE classes thru a private agency you have access to all of the waitng chidlren in RI. What we found was that it was such a small state that we got far more profiles on children in MA and CT. In the end we found a baby in RI but the shear numbers of chidlren in the other two states makes for faster placement sometimes. The other reason we went with a rpivate agency was becasue theyw ere so much more responsive. You have to pay the fee up front (It wasn't much as I remember) but we got 100% of it back after placement.
