Ameda is cheaper but Medela is sturdier and will withstand the test of time. And Medela is faster and more powerful.
BUT Ameda has all those really cool handy totebags and a breastpump backpack. Personally, when I was at work, I would have been horrified to use a Medela simply because it seems like it is the industrial heavy duty breastpump. The backpack Ameda is around $159.00. The Medela Traveler (which still looks huge to me) is almost $300.
I think if you want something that you are going to use several times a day and/or everyday, go with Medela. If it is something for the recreational pumper...Ameda. I didn't check into warranties but I am sure Medela has a better one IMO.
I feel extremely weird.

Thanks!
I'm not worried about the looks...I want it to work and work well...I want it to be a one time expense, versus something I will have to replace over time.
Again, thanks for the info :)
