Kohls had a great sale on Summer clothes and I had an additional 30% off :) so I had to buy for next year....
My daughter now wears 6-9 month tops and bottoms and even 3-6 months in bottoms... I bought a lot of size 12 month and a couple on 18 months. I am more concerned ~ the 12 month sizes.. She now weighs 17 pounds....
Can you tell me how much your baby grew from one Summer to another.....
thanks!!!
My son wore 9 months last summer and 18 months this summer. He could have worn some 12 months shorts and t's if I had bought any. My lil guy now weighs 25 pounds. Dont think I was much help. I bought size 2 for next summer, on sale ofcourse.:D
Warm wishes...MamaTo6

My daughter came home one month ago at 6 1/2 months and was wearing some 9 months but mostly 12 month clothing (she was 18 lbs 5 oz) now she is almost 19 lbs and is wearing some 12 month and some 18 month clothing.
I think though once she starts walking she will lose some of her baby fat and might not continue to gain as much. I expect her to honestly be in 24 month clothing though by next summer.

Brandy
I think you need to look at your daughter growth rate. For example my Emma has stayed pretty much in her age category in sizes. She is 16 mos and wears 12 month size clothing she can still wear some 6-9 month clothes if they were sized big. So next summer I fully expect her to be wearing 24 mos. I think if you wanted to play it safe I would buy more 18mos outfits given that your daughter is 17 pounds. Dresses should be fine in 12 mos but any shirts or onesies I would buy in 18mos. Just my 2cents

Sam definetely slowed down when he started walking.....he is 20 months old tomorrow and he weighs 22 pounds. He is still in 12 month shorts and pants and wearing 24 months to 2T shirts. He seems to get skinnier by the day!
Lilly was six lbs at birth. She just turned 17 months today. She is wearing 18 month clothes and can not fit into 12 months clothes anymore. She currently weighs almost 24 lbs. I bought her some 2T and 24 month clothes on sale for next year. There are some great bargains out there. I hope this helps a little bit! Good luck!

Yikes, maybe I bought too small clothes.... But for $1.60 for a pair of shorts and shirts.... who can resist...... lol
Let me put it this way, my son will be 3 next month and he is still wearing some 12 month shorts, and 18 month shirts and rompers. Some of these clothes he's worn 3 summers now! He's a little peanut!
If I were you, I would probably stick with 18 months and up-just in case she goes in a growth spurt. I've debated on buying for next year too. Right now our daughter is 14 months old and wears some 3-6 months(old navy), 6 months and 6-9 months(which tend to run big on her)For the fall I bought 9 months or 6-9 months and will wait to see how she grows before buying anymore. She already has a bunch of 12 month summer stuff that she got as gifts and I hope they will fit next year or in the Spring when we go to Florida. Having them a little big is better than having them too small.

Barbara,
You can never go wrong with Gapkids (when they have their sales :o )*** Livvy can still wear some of their 6month clothes, now at 9 months. They are all cut bigger.
Boy I would go with 18months if you can. I worked in the children's clothing department for years and most 1 year olds seem to be in the 18month size. My kids were big and wore a larger size, but I think 18 month is what i would buy.
Have fun shopping

I have a two year old and a 1 year old...they both can wear 18 mo clothes although the 2-yo looks more comfortable in 24 month rompers. However, in long pants, he definately needs the 18 month clothes, as 24 mo are too long...but the 1 yo needs 18 month for his waist! Each one is different...
I assumed that she would be 2 so 24 months would be adequate (assuming that Guatemalan kids are slightly smaller). Well we all know what assuming does. My DD is tall and her tops are 3T now and bottoms are 2T
I now will buy big and then leave room for washing and shrinking.
Oh well...I lived and learned.

IMO the 12 month sizes probably wont' fit. I probably would have gotten 18-24. She will probably be in 12 month size for this winter and next summer I would guess 18 months. Jason is turning 2 this December, and I'm getting 24month/2t for winter and collecting 3T for next year. Jeff could have gotten away with smaller sizes because he was tall and skinny but not Jason.
I went to Kohls last nite and exchanged most of the outfits for size 18 months. I did keep a couple of the 12 month that looked on the big side...
thanks again......
