Hi all, I'm an adoptee from NJ. I was born in the Bronx at Misericordia Hosp. and adopted through Catholic Charities in Paterson NJ. I just received non-id. Apparently my birthmother was born in Rhode Island, raised in NH and moved to NJ in 1959. Her birthfather died when she was 3. Her mother remarried and the stepfather adopted her and her little brother. The mother and stepfather went on to have 3 more babies. Recently learned my birthname was Kimberley Hanover. Hanover is not a common name here in NJ, and now I wonder if "Hanover" is not my birthmother's surname, but rather Hanover New Hampshire. At any rate, I have two thoughts to put out here in this post. 1. Anyone know anyone with the last name Hanover from NH and 2. Are NH adoptions, especially stepchild adoptions, sealed...or would they be public knowledge? Maybe I could find an adoption record of both children? Any suggestions would so appreciated! Thanks
