My usual way of taking my mind off things is shopping, and I'm itching to start buying clothes and other necessities for my prospective child. I'm looking to adopt a 2-3 year old boy. Any suggestions on what size(s) to buy?
Most children are going to be the size they are in age or smaller. However, since there is so much uncertainty in the age of child you will actually get, we are taking a range of clothes with us that are all second hand. If they are too small, we will leave them behind. We plan to buy some clothes and shoes in Ukraine once we find our child and have more of an idea of sizes. Don't spend too much money on new clothes unless you are sure they will fit (like buy 4 year old stuff that he will grow into). However, even that can be a waste as our son is so small that if we had bought clothes in advance, they would have been completely out of season.
If you need to shop, stock up on other things, like household items, you can use later on. That way, you'll have more money after your adoption that you can spend on clothes for your new son. I know it's not as exciting, but it's a start.....
