My husband wants to proceed with adopting my daughter. We've been married for 2 years. The biological father is not on the birth certificate and has never paid child support...he's been missing for nearly 3 years. We would like to handle this without an attorney. If you have done this in Texas and can give us advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am legally a TX resident, and have discussed this with lawyers. Your situation is different than mine, since your child's biodad is non-supporting and hasn't contacted, not to mention not on the BC. Search for Texas Family Code, you will find all the applicable laws there, and going to your local court house, you can ask for the proper papers. Good luck!!
