Hello - we are waiting to be matched through the Washoe County Social Services "healthy infant" program. We have been officially waiting for almost 2 months. Is anyone else out there in this program?? I was hoping that Sept. would be "the" month due to our 100 yr. snow. I would love to talk to other hopeful parents in Washoe County...any out there??

We are from Nevada and are adopting from China. My friend, who is military, will be moving back here next year and will be adopting through the state. Foster-adopt.
How does your adoption work? That sounds interesting.

Turns out, Nevada state does not have a healthy infant program anymore. Only Washoe County residents can adopt through Washoe--which I guess is good, because that keeps the program smaller for you all. I do not think Elko County has anything like that. I guess God has closed that door! Just writing it down for the record.

My husband and I are in training to go through the special needs program, but we are also considering the healthy infant program. Keep in touch an let us know how it goes.

My husband and I recently made the decision to pursue an international adoption. It turns out researching the actual placement agency is easy - lots of web sites, info, opinions, etc. - but I can't find much about local (Las Vegas) agencies that can do an international homestudy. I would appreciate any info from anyone who's done one lately. It looks like you can't mention agency names on the message board, so if you have specific recommendations/warning, please PM me!
