I thought I would introduce myself here and hope that I can get a little help or information.

Over the years I have obtained information in bits and pieces, but have had no luck. Now I feel that I have a real need to find out more, as my wife and I are expecting our first child in February.

I have considered going to the courts for information, but have had no opportunity to do so. Also, I don't know exactly how to approach my request for non-ID Info from the courts. I know that medical is the most common reason, but I have nothing that indicates I have a medical condition that would warrant requesting this information. The fact that my wife and I have a baby on the way, along with the fact that I have no family health history should be enough reason, right? All I know is that I don't have much to work with financially, so I am trying to get any info I can in the cheapest manner possible.
Another problem is my amom. Though I am almost 30 years old, she is adamantly against me looking for any information about them. She is very old-fashioned about things. Her philosophy is that since the bfamily was not interested in me enough to put me up for adoption, why the hell would they be interested in meeting me now? When I tell her I am not interested in meeting them (though secretly I am) and I am more interested in the non-ID Info like medical information, she comes back at me and says that the family had no problems. If they did, they wouldn't have adopted me (WTF? Over?). I realize that I am an adult and can decide for myself on what to do, but at the same time, I do not want to end up alienating her by doing this and then finding out that I would never be able to meet my bfamily for one reason or another.
Can anyone out there help me find out what is the best (and cheapest) course of action to take?

(BTW, I know I have posted the asme story in several forums, but I figured I would do this to get as much exposure as possible. Besides, I know some people only concentrate on one or two forums and ignore the others.)
If you would like to e-mail me privately I can tell you how to go about getting your information. I am looking for a younger brother who would have been born around your time give or take a month or two. If you wish to share the info you have about yourself again e-mail me. My e-mail address is thecablegod2@cox.net
I have just located both my bio parents just these last couple of months so I know where you are coming from and I also know how to get it done. Again if you would like to feel free to e-mail me.

HUGE UPDATE!
With the help of a fellow poster, I was able to get the number to the office of the attorney who handled my adoption. I spoke with the attorney's assistant (the one who has my attorney's files, I guess) and I am hoping he will be contacting me tomorrow or Monday with some info for me.

Could it really be that simple????????

I received a call and email last night from my Search Angel (SA) that stated the following:

just want you to know that the phone call to your birth Mother went beautifully !!!! Cannot wait to tell you all about it. Give me a call at your convenience.Ӕ
Needless to say, my heart raced as I called my SA back. She told me that my birth mom has been praying that I would make contact. She had almost forgotten when I was born until SA said my birth date. They spoke for over an hour and will be discussing contact times in the near future.
In the meantime, I will be working on scanning a bunch of photos to email to my SA so she can relay them to her. bMom will be doing the same.
I am so excited and happy that my heart is about to leap out of my chest!
