Hey everyone! I am new here.
My husband and I are in the process of adopting from Haiti. We submitted our I600A at the beginning of this month and were contacted last week about getting fingerprinted at the beginning of December. Our homestudy is completed and should be submitted by the end of this week. How long has it been taking most people from fingerprinting-> approval? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Gwenn
Gwenn, we haven't received it as of yesterday's mail. We're probably at about 95 or 100 days, I think. But I'm so busy right now that I haven't been thinking about it! I do hope we get it soon.

Gwenn, we were told to expect to pick up 3-6 months from referral. We've chosen names, but we're waiting until we bring the babies home to share them. I'm trying to keep from getting too attached to them, just in case something happens to cause us to lose the referral. The floodgates have opened; however, now that I've started buying some baby items. I keep looking in the closet at the clothes and thinking, "There are going to be babies living here."
Joan, I'm glad you're staying busy and not getting too discouraged at the long wait! It's so hard when you get your hopes up every day, then it's not in the mail!

And, we have our baby! He's 13 months old and an absolute doll. Well, we don't have him yet, but we have a referral. Wow, it's all happening so quickly! It's very exciting.
Joan! YAY!!!! We are still waiting on our referral-- aargh... it's not going very well unfortunately... too much drama to go into now... hopefully soon? I'd like to say next week, but who the heck knows?!
In the meantime... show us his picture!!! Oh, I am SO excited for you! Will you PM me and let me know where in NC you are from? Amy, will you do the same? Maybe after all our babies come home to us we can get together and meet!
Again, congratulations. I am so very excited for you and I know how special of a time this must be for you and your husband. How long of a wait do you have from here?
-Gwenn
Gwenn, I can't post a photo of him because of Ethiopia's rules. But just picture the sweetest, cutest 13 month old ever! :D
Oops! I forgot to answer your other question. Our agency has said that the wait from referral to travel can be 6-8 weeks, but lately it's been more like 4-6 weeks. So I am really hoping we'll be in Ethiopia by the end of April. :cheer: Can you tell how excited I am? I usually never use smileys!

That is fast Joan... on my word... in just a month or so you will be a MAMA! You're gonna love it. And I am glad you are going ahead of us in this process and can let us know what worked/didn't work for you! (I didn't mean to make you sound like a guinea pig... :)
PLease keep us posted...

Gwenn,
Any referral news?
Amy-
We do have some news but nothing firm yet... we are "soft matched" with a child, but I am hesitant to give any info until we get all the info. (We are still waiting on some medical information.)
All I am willing to say is this-- I can't wait to be this child's mama! Hope to have more info and a pic to you real soon...

Amy, Joan--
Here he is!
Our son to be named Nicolas Josue. (Born Josue)
He's currently 17 months... Isn't he a dream?

Joan-- aren't you traveling soon?
Amy-- did you visit your babies?
Gwenn, he is so beautiful! Congratulations! You must be such a proud mama!
We are traveling soon, hurrah! Our tentative date is May 20, and could perhaps end up being May 13. It won't come soon enough for me!
