In honor of President Bush declaring last month as National Adoption Month, the Virtual Consulate Davao and the U.S. Embassy Manila will be hosting a live chat on the issue of adoption in the Philippines. Through this interactive chat, experts on adoptions in the Philippines and on visa issues will be on hand to answer the participants questions. The chat will be held December 21, 2005 from 8:30 am to 9:30am (Philippine time zone). (Dec. 20th 7:30pm east coast U.S.)
To join the chat, follow the instructions on the home page of the Virtual Consulate Davao, http://www.usvirtualconsulatedavao.org.ph/.
Unfortunately I will be on a plane off to see my family at the time of this live chat. I had hoped to ask a question.
The chat is scheduled on December 20th from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM Pacific time.
If any one is planning to join the join in on the chat?
This is the question I was planning to post:
Adopted children that have met the definition of "the child" are not qualified for K or V visas under the life act but are qualified for US Citizenship. If they are petitioned using the I-130 process they are also ineligible for a B2 visa. Children that remain resident outside of the US can process their citizenship through naturalization. The I-130 is takes a year to process. Is anything being done to change the rules to prioritize processing children already eligible for US Citizenship?
I'm sure you would have questions of your own but if do join the chat and get a chance would you post my question?
Thanks,
Johnny
