We are officially foster parents! I was waiting yesterday for some info about our license, but did not hear anything. Then DH called me around 3 on this way home from work. They'd called his cell! We now have 3 kids, G 5-boy, V,4-Girl, and M 3-Girl. The kids are Hispanic and speak very little English, although they seem to understand quite a bit. We don't know too much past history...as of right now we don't know their last name or DOB's. They were abandoned, so they come w/ no info. So far, so good! G had a fever last night and again this am, but over all the three are doing well. I think the biggest relief was to have someone to talk to who understood them and could speak back! DH is thrilled and I must admit I am too. I immediately felt my heart strings pull when we saw them and over the course of the evening w/ dinner, bath time, fixing hair (no lice Thank God!), and bed time, I knew I could love these kids.
My only sadness is, while I'd love to keep them, I wish they knew more about who they are. If mom never shows, we don't know their birthdays or anything. Mom may not even be a citizen, so we don't know how likely they have any identifying info out there. They weren't even sure of the kids names until they spoke to someone at the hospital who knew Spanish. They do know they are 5,4, and 3, but obviously at such a young age, not much else. So soon we need to decide whether or not to enroll G into Kindergarten or Head Start. Hopefully the SW will call this morning and let us know whats going on! I'll keep you all posted!

Congrats! How is the adjustment going? Has the sw given you any more information? It must be difficult knowing you know nothing about them. Do you or anyone you know speak Spanish? You might be able to get some information from the five year old in the next little while. He might know his birthday (or not), but he might know their last name or other details that might be helpful. Even if it's just things for their lifebooks, if you hope to eventually make some. Have fun! Dawn H.
Hello
To answer some questions, I know some spanish, and my dh is Hispanic and fluent. So far, nothing new said from the kids. They posted a picture of them on one of the news channels and website, but we haven't heard anything yet. Monday's a holiday so we know it will be Tues at the earliest!
The kids have done really really well at adjusting....its like they've been here forever! They did really well at church, sat quietly through the service. Next week, I teach in the pre-k class so they'll go w/ me, but I knew they weren't ready to be alone today. They've learned the routine here and we have very little behavior issues, other than typical sibling rivalry! More than happy to keep them here forever, but know that may not be in the cards! Just waiting on God's plans! Take care!

Hi everyone,
Things are going well. I'm a little overwhelmed w/ the laundry and dishes, but other than that, life is good. Going from 0-3 isn't that bad...busy, but not impossible! We are being told this is looking long term, so keeping fingers crossed, but not going to believe it till paperwork is signed in front of a judge! Hope this finds everyone happy and healthy!
