How old was your dd when taken to a hair salon (for styling) for the 1st time? Or do you have a certain age that you plan to take her?
It depends on what you are going to the salon for and what your child is able to sit still for.
Big D is 3 1/2 and more than able to sit still and listen to other adults. We actually plan to start taking her in soon to get her hair cornrowed in styles that I can not do yet.

dd is 4 and has been for deep conditioning and getting ends trimmed (and does well). She does great at home and actually likes to get her hair done - she's pretty impressed with herself, I think, when her hair is done nice.
She's asking to go now for cornrows, which I can actually do. I think it's more about the experience for her of being a big girl & getting it done there. Four just seems young to make it a regular thing but I guess to go every now and again would be okay.
Just curious about what others experiences are.
I had a 5 yo fd and her her hair cornrowed. Maybe this will help; back in the day when AA's pressed their hair, my sister was about 5 when her hair was first pressed. If it helps to keep the hair manageable, don't worry about the age.
