A few months ago we thought we were waiting to be matched. A couple of months ago we found out our homestudy had been sitting on the director's desk with a ton of questions and issues. They had a difficult time proving our history of fostering in another county and then there was my husband's past criminal history (was covered under First Offender's Act but still shows up on report from GCIC due to conflicting laws in GA) that had to be worked out. We started in July and should have been done by the end of Sept. and thought we were. Now we are approved and waiting to be matched for a sibling group up to six , 0-18 yrs old, and of any heritage!!! We got the official notice Friday and the state office (not our private agency) already sent out our HS for 2 groups here in GA. Our worker called and said the group we were interested in Nov. had been pulled b/c they have a couple of good HS but the worker was really interested in us and so had held off a on a decision until our could be sent. She also sent out our HS to five additional groups throughout the states that we have been watching. Both our SW and her director feel this will happen quickly b/c we have so much experience and the only issues we won't consider are violent and sexually aggressive children. We are concerned about RAD but they seem to think we will have several groups to choose from shortly. The nesting has begun! I can't quit organizing and cleaning out things. I have so much left to do this week and as soon as we find out what group we will bring home, I get to buy a new vehicle! I have driven the same car for & years w/o a payment. Now I have to find one to fit 7-9 people depending. I AM SO EXCITED!!!

I have found that it is much quicker (and much more satisfying) to find the sibling groups yourselves. Go to adoptuskids.com, select Resources (from the top), and then State Photolistings (down the lefthand side) - then scroll down and click on the state you want to search. You can read bios of sibling groups, and get contact information for their caseworker. We have found that this proactive approach puts the selection control in our hands, and we can get things done alot quicker than the agency workers can. Good luck!

I have been watching that site daily for months. Our SW actually just emailed me she is sending our HS to 3 groups in TX, 1 in DC and 1 in WV that we have been interested in for some time. Now that we are all ready she has jumped right in and said she does not have to limit the # of inquiries sent out. Now I just need advice on how to think about something besides this computer. I find myself checking every hour for a change or email.
