The GRC is primarily involved with adoption reform activities around the country and I am coordinating activities in Maryland. If you agree, I would like to add your address to my Maryland Green Ribbon Campaign membership. You do not have to live in Maryland to participate. However, if you are living in Maryland, I also want to let you know that we are meeting on a monthly basis in the Annapolis area. At the meetings we discuss reform activities in Maryland, as well as offer assistance and support for those searching or in reunion. If you would be interested in joining us, let me know.
Please email me directly: mko421@aol.com

I have been searching quite a long time. I just am not willing to pay someone 400.00 bucks to do it for me! Thanks for the work you do.If you ever need help with anything you can email me at jmocarski@juno.com

I have been confused ever since i have tried to search. I was told to go by state adoptive parents lived in then by state where i was born, then by state where birth mother was living at time of birth. I have yet to get a straight answer and i know it's hard when I have so little to go on.

At least in my case it does. Do you know what agency you were with or what hospital you were born at or anything? I am so sorry your afamily was so inconsiderate to you. I am so lucky: my amom took so many notes at the agency I didn't even have to pay for non-ID info. I am blown away that they would do that to you. (insert fuming and confused face here).
If you know the agency, start from there. If you don't, call around to a few (Family & Child Agency has records from many now defunct agencies including the one I was at). If it's not them, they might be able to point you in the right direction depending on year of birth and info you might know, etc.
Unfortunately, in DC, you can open your court records, but you can't SEE them. They go directly to your agency who extorts a large fee from you to do a search which may or may not be successful and which can still result in a "naaah, we don't really want any contact", in which case they won't tell you ANYTHING. The birthparents still rule in DC. Not very equitable.
I am hoping for the best and about to bite the bullet and pay the money for their search. I am hoping and praying something good will come of it.
Good luck to you, OK? I don't check message boards very often, but ask around on this forum (with an attention grabbing headline regarding search) and I'm sure someone will help. I have had much luck with e-friends and listsibs and other angels.
Wish me luck, as I do to you and all other lost souls in this world.

I had lost my password and had to open a new account.
No, I have no idea what agency. I think I was born in DC General hospital, but that place doesn't exsit and I have been trying to find out where the records from the hospital went.
I'm not very good at searching things. Do you or anyone else know how to go about asking these exsiting agencys?
Good luck Elizabeth!!!
