just started looking and need HELP!!

I have decided to start the process of looking for sister that was adopted out at birth, I have known of this for sometime but have very few details and parents do not want to give out much info.. I know she was born in Feb. sometime in early to mid 70's...Parents say that it was an "open adoption". (im not even sure what that intails). And they think that she was adopted to a family in odgen, the adoptive mother was a school teacher and adoptive father was a carpenter. Any info on where to begin, how to go about this process or if this story sounds familiar please e-mail.

Open probably back then means they knew each others personal info. (in some agencies today this is what they call "open")

Do your parents know their names? Address at time of adoption? Etc.

I can relate to what you are going through. I also have a sister that was given up for adoption at birth. I didn't start looking for my sister until I knew she would of been 18 years old.

All I had at the time when I first started searching was the name of the hospital, date of birth, and that the baby was a girl.

I searched for her for over six years. I signed up at every adoption site I could find online. I also signed up for the adoption registry in the state where she was born. I don't remember the site where I went to but I ordered a kit called "The Locator" by Klunder & Dunn. It has lots of advice on searching for someone.

I was blessed...because I got lucky finding my sister. A family member thought they might know my sisters name. So I filled out a birth certificate form requesting my sisters birth certificate. I put down all the information I had along with the name that was given to me. This was one of the ideas I got out of The Locator kit. After a few months I got something in a mail requesting for a copy of my ID so that the birth certificate could be released. Once I knew that the name that had been given to me matched with all of the information I had on my sister I started searching online for her address. After some searching I did find her.

Things have gone good and then there are times like right now where everything isn't going that well with my sister. This just takes time. I pray you find your sister. Let me know if you need anything.
