It's a way to see when other sites link to you, I think...

The easiest way to explain trackback is to see it in action. Basically, it's a way to tell a blog that you're linking to it -- the system leaves a note in the linked-to blog's comment area similar to a comment from the linking blog. Like so: [url]http://www.43folders.com/2006/02/14/elmore-leonard/#comments[/url]The first comment and the comment from amos moses griffin.com are both trackbacks (although they're not explicitly labeled as such). On this blog entry: [url]http://everydaygoddess.typepad.com/everyday_goddess/2006/02/you_better_star.html[/url]...the distinction is clearer.
